What can we expect from the rest of the 2024 F1 Season?

Max Verstappen back to winning ways? Lando Norris title charge? Ferrari on top? Whilst it is impossible to predict how the rest of the 2024 season is going to play out, we can certainly get a good idea by looking into team activities over the last few weeks.

First of all, Lewis Hamilton. Mercedes team principal, Toto Wolff, has made it clear that big things are coming for the rest of the season, stating: “We've got a fairly substantial set of new clothes [upgrades] for the car coming for Austin that we hope will give us a decent weekend there. So we've got to deliver all that and get ourselves ready for these last few races of the year.” So, it seems as if Mercedes are hoping to make a fast start, perhaps aiming to gain places in the constructors championship. Could we see Hamilton back on the top step of the podium for the third time this season? It is important to remember that George Russell will also be pushing Lewis Hamilton the whole way, a highly capable driver that, in the right car, could certainly find himself near the top of the Drivers’ Championship.

Austin will be  crucial in the race for the title. If McLaren can pull off a 1-2 finish, it would certainly put a heap of pressure on Red Bull. However, the same goes for Red Bull, who would start alarm bells ringing for McLaren if they were to dominate again. On the other hand, the likes of Ferrari and Mercedes could have a trick up their sleeves, however, they would need to be very consistent to be in a chance for the title.

As for the bottom half of the grid, Williams could finally be in for some joy. Following impressive races from new driver, Franco Colapinto, who replaced Logan Sargeant earlier this year, Williams will be hoping for some great results. Coupled with the experienced Alexander Albon, they could really be in luck. Sauber have been unable to fix their previous issues, so it is likely that they will remain at the back of the grid for the remainder of the season, which is an issue for Zhou Guanyu, who is in need of a seat for 2025.
